This workshop is designed to challenge educators to think outside of the box in understanding autism, neurodiversity and understand evidence-based strategies to support autistic individuals across the lifespan. Participants will explore the evolving definitions of autism and neurodiversity, analyzing the diverse developmental trajectories and characteristics of individuals on the spectrum. Armed with this foundational knowledge, educators will dive into the latest research backed interventions and approaches, learning how to integrate personalized comprehensive plans that address the unique social, communication, behavioral and cognitive needs of their diverse students. Robyn Powley has over 30 years of experience serving as a Special Educator, General Educator, Special Education Administrator, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and parent coach. Throughout her career, she has worked tirelessly in PreK-12 schools, developing innovative programs and interventions that have had a profound impact on students with multiple disabilities, including emotional handicaps, autism, intellectual disabilities, and learning disabilities.
With a Master’s Degree in Special Education, specializing in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, and a national board certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Robyn gets the most joy from sharing her expertise and providing workshops to fellow professionals.
