ADA, Leave and Workers’ Compensation Issues

This interactive workshop will guide you through requests for reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), applying federal FMLA and state leave laws, managing workers' compensation employer responsibilities, and how everything interacts. With hands-on case studies, you will gain the resources to ensure your company or organization is legally compliant and effective in managing ADA, leave, and workers' compensation situations.

  • Processing requests for reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state disability laws
  • Necessary interactive discussions to stay compliant
  • Addressing FMLA challenges like intermittent leave and recertification
  • Application of state leave laws in general like the Granite State Paid Family Leave Act, Maine FMLA and Earned Paid Leave, and the MA PFML
  • How to manage employer responsibilities with WC claims, such as reporting
  • Challenging WC claims and claims resolution
  • Interaction of federal and state laws 
  • Strategies for minimizing risks and financial impact

  • Amy Cann

    Amy Cann is the founder of Cann Law, P.C.  As an experienced business professional and attorney with a diverse background, Ms. Cann specializes in providing comprehensive legal solutions to organizations and individuals. With a sharp focus on legal compliance, problem resolution, and risk management, her expertise spans employment law, OSHA and safety, and business law, as well as effective representation at the agency level, in mediation, and in court. She is licensed to practice in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine and is a certified Data Privacy Attorney with a foundation in cybersecurity and AI.  Formerly, she was in the Human Resources profession for over 20 years and then, an Attorney at McLane Middleton, P.A..

    Ms. Cann established her own law practice to better serve clients with personalized, effective legal strategies.  She is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association, the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI), the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the (ISC)2, an International Cyber Security Professional Association.  Cann Law, P.C. is a registered benefit corporation dedicated to providing our neighbors with pro bono representation through 603 Legal Aid and other legal aid organizations in New England.
