Hand Building with Clay Slabs

In this workshop students will have the opportunity to create an assortment of hand-built stoneware forms using clay slabs. Construction techniques using various mold forms and templates will be taught as well as surface design techniques using clay slips, texture stamps and carving tools.

Throughout the creative process emphasis will be placed on the integration of form and surface.

Art educators and students new to hand-building, or those looking to broaden their hand-building skills will find this workshop informative and inspiring.

Hand Building with Clay Slabs

  • Teresa Taylor

    Teresa Taylor, studio potter since 1973, is owner of the Salty Dog Pottery in Barnstead, New Hampshire.  As a roster artist with the NH State Council on the Arts for many years, she has participated in Arts in Education residencies in public schools and has taught at the NH Institute of Art in the Community Education program. A member of the League of NH Craftsmen and NH Potters Guild, she exhibits her ceramic pieces throughout New England. She has installed several stoneware tile installations in various NH public buildings commissioned through the Percent for Art Program.
