Mindful Communication

Communicating mindfully combines the study of mindfulness, communication theory and emotional intelligence. Recent studies suggest emotional intelligence and communication skills are top skills required for effective leaders and teachers. In schools, students taught to practice emotional intelligence and mindfulness skills frequently demonstrate a correlated improvement in grades, emotion regulation and behavior in the classroom.

Participants in this workshop will practice the fine art of opening fully to the moments of their lives, recognition of communication concepts as internal and external influences on behavior, and awareness to make emotionally intelligent decisions. The workshop includes an overview of elements of the Communicating Mindfully curriculum along with interactive communication exercises, group discussion, public speaking, and an exploration of meditation and mindfulness.

Through mindful communication, participants discover and modify unproductive habitual patterns of behavior to become happier and more productive. Teachers, administrators and counseling professionals with or without mindfulness experience are welcome.
