Supervisors Bootcamp - Summer 2020

Virtual for 2020!

The annual Supervisors Boot Camp is an intensive, one-day workshop specifically designed for individuals who have been newly promoted to a supervisory role, will soon work as a supervisor, or for those who wish to refresh their supervisory skills. In 2020, the annual program will feature presentations from Gina Abudi, President of Abudi Consulting Group, Amy Cann, Founder of HR ROI, and Anna Howard, Senior Partner of HR ROI. Presentations will include:

AGENDA

Sessions:

  • 10:15am – 12:00pm: Leadership Skills for New Supervisors (Gina Abudi)

There are a number of key skills that are valuable for new supervisors to enable them to be more effective leading teams. In this two-hour session, participants will learn two (2) key skills that will enable for more effectively guiding the work efforts of others.

  1. Coaching employees using the GROW Model
  2. Time management and delegation

Participants will leave the session with a plan to better allocate work among their team, to enable for accomplishing organizational goals and also for professional and personal growth of team members.

  • 12:00 - 12:30pm: Lunch Break

 

  • 12:30 - 1:30pm: "Finance Basics for New Supervisors" (Anna Howard)

In this section you will be introduced to main financial concepts any first time supervisor should know. We will cover main financial statements, key financial ratios and discuss budgeting process.

  • 1:30 - 2:30pm: “Basic Employment Law” (Amy Cann)

Understand the most common types of employment claims - both historically and today - harassment, discrimination, and failure to accommodate under the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Learn what you can and should do as a supervisor to protect both your workforce and your organization now and in the future.

  • Gina Abudi

    Gina Abudi

    Gina Abudi, MBA has 30+ years’ of experience providing consulting services and training to global organizations with a focus on projects, processes and their people. Gina is President of Abudi Consulting Group, LLC, and an adjunct faculty member at Granite State College (NH) teaching in both the Masters of Science in Project Management and Masters of Science in Leadership graduate degree programs. Gina frequently works with project teams, leadership groups and executives to facilitate complex meetings, brainstorming sessions and strategic planning sessions. Gina is the lead author of Best Practices for Managing BPI Projects: Six Steps to Success (J Ross Publishing, 2015) and author of Implementing Positive Organizational Change: A Strategic Project Management Approach (J Ross Publishing, 2017.) Gina is working on her next series of books focused on providing support and guidance to leaders. Gina received her MBA from Simmons Graduate School of Management.    

  • Amy Cann

    Amy Cann

    Amy’s career has spanned over 20 years in the Human Resources profession, and she is committed to guiding leaders to create positive, productive, safe work environments and engaging cultures for their employees while partnering to solve their challenges.

    She is currently enrolled at the Maine School of Law to complete her Juris Doctor degree with a specialization in Employment Law. Her education includes both a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Business Administration degree, Graduate Certificates in Human Resources Management and Social Media Marketing, and a dual Bachelor degree in Human Resources Administration and Psychology.

    Amy has designed and taught graduate, undergraduate, and professional development workshops for eight years for Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and the University of New Hampshire (UNH), as well as led over 100 employer training sessions over the years.

    She is a Certified Senior HR Professional (SHRM-SCP) through the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and a Certified Safety Management Specialist (SMS) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), a member of the NH Business and Industry Association (NH BIA) and the Chamber Collaborative of Portsmouth.

    Amy specializes in employment law, employee relations, leadership coaching, risk management, and organizational development and training.

  • Anna Howard

    Anna Howard

    Anna Howard, CPA, CMA, MBA, is a Senior Partner of HR ROI, an HR consulting firm based in Portsmouth, NH. After a 20-year career in public accounting and corporate finance, Anna served on the faculty of Nichols College and Merrimack College. Currently, she lives in Portsmouth, NH, conducts workshops on leadership, cultural competence, and data analytics. She also teaches at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
