Redefining Writing at UNH
PDT-TchLA-23

Writing, Redefined: Broadening our Ideas about Writing for Greater Equity, Inclusion, and Engagement (3-12)

For too long, our ideas about what constitutes “writing” in school spaces has been far too limited, leading to both disengagement and disempowerment for a great many students who struggle to see themselves as writers.

This workshop will provide participants with lots of ideas for how to begin to “redefine” writing in your own classroom as well as an understanding of how doing so can make our writing workshop a more engaging, inclusive, and equitable space for students. Please bring writing materials (e.g., writer's notebook, lined or unlined, writing utensils, and/or a tablet or laptop) and a playful, open mind to this workshop.
