Wendy A. Stacey, M.S. is the Director of Reading and Language at the Institute for Learning and Development in Lexington, MA. She holds her master’s degree in learning disabilities, is a certified special educator, and has been teaching for over 20 years. In her current position, she assesses and instructs students with language-based learning disabilities as well as provides consultation services with surrounding public and private schools. She has been a researcher with the Drive to Thrive and SMARTS projects, which involve designing, teaching strategies, and building leadership skills to students to Boston Public Schools. She co-authored a language arts curriculum to meet both the Massachusetts standards and the needs for language based learning disabled students. She is also a contributing author to the recent publication, Promoting Executive Function in the Classroom.
Previously, Ms. Stacey taught oral expression and language arts to elementary and middle school students at Landmark School as well as literature and composition to adolescents at the Carroll School; private schools for students with specific language-based learning disabilities. She has also been a resource room teacher in a number of public schools. Ms. Stacey has been formally trained in the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS), Orton-Gillingham Reading Approach, Wilson Reading System, and Project Read. She has also presented workshops at the Learning Differences Conference at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and taught at the MGH Institute for Health Professions graduate school.
