"Coaching the Whole Person for Whole System Success"
Learn how to coach your clients to capitalize on the opportunity and challenge in change and uncertainty.
Professional coaches are in high demand! Whether you're looking to start your own business as a life coach or work within an organization as a career coach, your journey starts with The Art of Coaching. This five-session course will provide you with a blueprint for a career in coaching, and is the core required course for the UNH Professional Coaching Certificate. This session runs annually during the Fall semester, and is generally scheduled on Fridays with two weeks between each class day.
In addition to the in-class curriculum, this program includes a practicum of a minimum of 10 hours of direct student coaching time, pro bono. The practicum will be discussed during the first session of the course, and is scheduled on each individual participant's own time.

Workshop Objectives:
- Expand awareness of behavioral science & systems theory
- Enhance skills & attitudes for ethical career and life coaching
- Learn client-centered techniques for navigating complex workplaces & overcoming limiting beliefs & behaviors
- Share ways to be a successful coach - career or life, internal or external
Workshop Agenda:
- Session One: Explore your vision, and the impact of your values and style on your Coaching, as well as the ethics, goals and roles of the coach/client relationship. Discover the principles and practice of CIC2, the Continuous Improvement Career Coaching(c) Model.
- Session Two: Examine adult learning theory and the principles of adult behavior, including ways to effectively coach to the client's highest potential, including: entry and contracting, techniques for data gathering, and assessment of the client's work history.
- Session Three: Explore beliefs and behaviors that can limit clients' effectiveness, and learn ways of dealing with emotional content and deeply embedded mindsets.
- Session Four: Examine systems theory to include the context of the client's life and work.
- Session Five: Conclude the practicum with a volunteer client with a report, peer review, and feedback to assure comprehension and the proper application of the principles and practices of Exceptional Coaching.
This course incorporates a 10+ hour practicum obligation, which must be completed by the end of the Art of Coaching program.
This course is offered once per year, in the Fall semester.
