Calendar & Closures
Professional Development & Training programs do not adhere to UNH’s semester-based academic calendar since PD&T programs are offered throughout the year and can span multiple semesters or terms.
Enrollment Requirements
Professional Development & Training programs are generally 'open enrollment' - available to the public without academic or professional prerequisites, and do not involve a formal admission process. As space allows, enrollment is generally open until noon ET the day before a program is scheduled to take place. Programs offered in partnership with external program providers may adhere to different admission guidelines.
Attendance
Student attendance is mandatory for all Professional Development & Training programs. If a student does not attend the required number of program sessions (as determined by the program instructor) a student may not receive CEUs for the program.
Academic Progress
Professional Development & Training students are evaluated on a Complete/Incomplete basis. “Complete” criteria includes a student attendance for, and participation in, all aspects of the program. “Incomplete” criteria describes a student who does not attend, and or participate in, some or all aspects of the program. Students who successfully complete a program will receive a letter of completion that is also archived by Professional Development & Training’s registrar. Programs offered in partnership with external program providers may adhere to different attendance and completion guidelines.
Student Conduct
Students participating in any program organized by Professional Development & Training must abide by the University of New Hampshire’s Student Rights, Rules, and Responsibilities (unh.edu/student-life/student-rights-rules-responsibilities). Failure to abide by these guidelines will result in immediate removal from a program without the student receiving credit for participation, or receiving a refund.
Schedule of Fees
Enrollment, material, and certificate fees vary for all Professional Development & Training programs. All program prices listed include tuition, supplies, and fees, unless otherwise specified in the program description.
Prior Learning
Professional Development & Training does not grant credit or equivalency for any programs not administered by PD&T. Information about continuing education units is described on each program-specific webpage. CEUs are issued to PD&T open-enrollment students at no additional cost as long as they have completed the course requirements successfully.

Certificate Program Requirements
Requirements for completion vary depending on the certificate. Some programs consist of specific required workshops, while others allow you to choose workshops and conferences from a selected variety of topics. Most certificates are a blend of both required and elective workshops. Upon enrolling in a certificate program, you are required to complete your coursework within two years from the date of enrollment.
As a general policy, required workshops will not be waived; however, if you have previous training or experience within the topic area, with permission, a substitution may be allowed. UNH reserves the right to change or terminate certificate programs and/or requirements at any time.
Cost and How to Enroll
When registering for a workshop or conference, at "checkout" you will be given the option to enroll in the certificate program relevant to that topic area. Simply add the certificate program enrollment to your "cart" for an additional $50. This $50 enrollment fee is a one-time charge for each certificate program. For assistance in enrolling in a certificate program, please call (603) 862-7380.
You do not need to be enrolled in a certificate program to attend a PD&T workshop or conference. However, students looking to complete a certificate must enroll in that program prior to attending their third workshop within a content area for their coursework to count towards a certificate.
The cost of each certificate program varies and depends on which workshops and conferences you take to fulfill program requirements. In general, the cost to complete a certificate program is the total cost of those workshops and conferences attended to fulfill requirements, plus the one-time $50 enrollment fee.
For industry specific licensing requirements and information, consult the professional organizations serving those fields.
