Participants in this workshop will gain an understanding of the role and function behavior plays in students' educational experiences, from the environment to their individual needs. We will review the behavior escalation cycle and discuss strategies, both proactive and in the moment, to help students reach the calming phase. Together, we will explore how the creation of a classroom/community culture grounded in positive reinforcement with clear expectations helps reduce challenging behaviors. Group discussion will facilitate opportunities to learn and share with others from across grade levels and NH districts. Participants will leave with fresh ideas and solutions to support classroom structure and help decrease/reframe challenging behavior.
