A Full Value Response to Trauma

A Full Value Response to Trauma
Students working together
PDT-TchGN-83

Full Value Community supports students and staff in fending off trauma by building self-regulation, resilience, and finding a voice; positively impacting the learning climate and culture.

In this workshop, we will explore Full Value Behavioral Norms, and activity-based implementation strategies to repair the affective trauma being experienced within schools and organizations. Full Value is a systematic approach to social emotional learning, providing common language and methods across educational and organizational settings. In schools, it is a K-12 initiative that operates from the classroom to the cafeteria.

Anyone working in education is aware of the profound impact trauma may have on ourselves, our colleagues, and especially our students and clients. Trauma doesn’t just impact our thoughts and feelings but also our bodies. Being on guard impacts how we process information, learn, and relate to others and leaves many hyper-vigilant and drained. Unresolved trauma lingers under the surface of many people’s psyches and can surface without warning.

Learning Objectives:

  • Introduce the six Full Value Behavior Norms
  • Connect how restorative outcomes of the Norms can heal the fallout of trauma: Dissociation, loss of safety, loss of trust, loss of control, shame, loss of self-worth
  • Introduce activities that teach the Norms
  • Utilize Control to Empowerment methodology
  • Introduce Calling Group as support for empowerment and self-regulation
