If you are a Pre-K or Elementary teacher, you know that sitting for long periods of time may affect student’s ability to focus, attend and connect with the curriculum you want them to access. Today we will dive into the research behind utilizing movement throughout the classroom day. In your materials, you will learn sensory related exercises to “feed” the sensory system, helping with focus and attentional needs. You will also learn exercises to build the muscles of these small bodies to help with writing, sitting and eye/hand coordination. We then will explore curriculum content and learn how to combine movement with learning. Take away the Drive Thru Menu Kits of your choice (when you register) and implement them tomorrow in your classroom or educational practice. Check out Tere's work at her TheraPro site to begin thinking about which works best for your classroom!
