Coaching is an effective communication approach to goal attainment and personal development. It can be used in a variety of areas including supporting youth challenged with ADHD, anxiety, and risky behavior.
This workshop will provide a basic introduction and practical skills to coaching clients who are at the adolescent developmental level. Discuss principals, guidelines and strategies of coaching. Explore the differences between coaching and other types of communication, and examine the benefits and limitations of various coaching models. In this engaging, thought provoking workshop participants will have the opportunity to practice coaching strategies and will explore various ways to deliver coaching plans. Current research will also be discussed to build an understanding of how strength-based coaching helps young people find peace and success in their academic and personal lives.
(This course combines and replaces the Fundamentals of Coaching Children and Teens and Coaching (CCT) and Communication Models: Working with Youth (CYAR) as a required course for both certificate programs.)
