Volunteers are a precious resource for nonprofit organizations, and the nonprofit "market" for committed volunteers is highly competitive. At the same time, nonprofits may have a difficult time determining how they can effectively use volunteers within their own systems and structures. In this workshop, we will discuss how to recruit volunteers at all levels, talk about "job descriptions" for volunteer positions, and discuss assessment of the volunteer's skills. By effectively matching people with appropriate volunteer roles the potential for satisfying the volunteer's personal motivation and your organizational needs increases significantly. You'll leave with a clear understanding of successful volunteer programs, your organization's preparedness to work with volunteers, and resources to use in the volunteer process.
