Unstorying™ for Leaders - How Your Own Inner Stories Influence Your Leadership Style and the Culture of Your Organization

Course Overview

Human beings, by their very nature, are storytellers. Whether in the ways in which they communicate their thoughts with others, but also in what they tell themselves, and in how they navigate change, interpersonal dynamics, and their own fears. Mastering an understanding of the nature of stories, and how stories affect the work environment both positively and negatively, can make or break an organization’s culture. This course will give you an opportunity to explore your own deeply held stories, as well as help you to see and navigate the web of stories present in your organization in order to create a healthier and more productive environment.

This course is for current organizational leaders and future leaders.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will identify their own stories that are keeping them stuck, or in thought patterns that are restricting their growth as effective leaders.
  2. Participants will explore the web of stories that colleagues may be carrying and chart the ways in which these affect the culture of the organization.
  3. Participants will learn strategies to support their colleagues and direct reports to rebalance the narratives creating interpersonal conflicts and low morale.
  4. Participants will learn strategies to affect positive change in their organizations and assist in stronger buy-in with the organization’s mission and vision to create and maintain a healthier organizational culture.
