Foundational Bow Repair
Out of the Attic and Into the Hand: Part 1
During this week of instruction, students will learn repairs that are necessary or may be completed prior to a rehair. Students will learn how to identify and perform these repairs with traditional French bowmaking techniques in mind while offering more modern and sustainable options for parts used including ebony and ivory alternatives.
Skills learned:
- Scanning stick for repairs, proper cleaning, & French polish
- Replacing tip plates
- Pearl parts ( fitting slides and dots )
- Replacing eyelets
- Replacing pins
- Gluing methods for frog and stick repairs
