Introduction to R for Data Science
Introduction to Data Science in R is a one day, bootcamp style, course that provides a comprehensive foundation in statistical programming and data science for professionals. Participants will gain practical, hands-on experience in handling complex datasets, applying statistical methods, and creating reproducible research workflows using R. Data science skills in R are applicable in a wide range of fields from finance and healthcare to conservation and biology. This workshop equips professionals with the technical expertise needed to facilitate data-driven decision-making in all fields of study.
Workshop topics include:
- Fundamentals of R Programming & Data Science – Introduction to R and RStudio, data structures, and the role of computational tools in research applications.
- Data Manipulation & Cleaning – Techniques for importing, organizing, and preparing real-world datasets for analysis using tidyverse tools.
- Data Visualization & Communication – Best practices for creating publication-quality graphics, effective visual storytelling with data, and communicating statistical results to diverse audiences.
There is no previous experience using R required to take this course. All skill levels are welcome, though the course will focus on the foundations of using R and to build up basic skills.
