Lisa Friedlander, MA, MSW, MFA LICSW

Lisa Friedlander is a licensed independent clinical social worker in private practice for over 30 years, and a creative nonfiction essayist. She also has an MA in movement therapy and an MFA. She has presented at conferences involving creative therapies and taught full time at Russell Sage College and then Tufts University for 13 years prior to opening her own practice. While evidentiary based treatment methodologies help us to understand what works from a top-down perspective, the ability to form nuanced connections in the psychotherapeutic relationship as well as our connections to ourselves is also an art involving down-up creativity and imagination. She is interested in teaching in a way that emphasizes direct learning experiences, often out of the seat, and without screens. Handouts will be given out.
