Requirements:

Hardware Requirements:

  • This course must be taken on a PC. Macs are not compatible.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 10 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge is also compatible.
  • QuickBooks Online (Free 1-year subscription and practice site included in enrollment.) An additional subscription or software purchase for QuickBooks Online is not required to complete this course. However, please note that this course is only suitable for the QuickBooks Online version.
  • Microsoft Office 365, 2021, or 2019 (not included in enrollment). While you can use an older version of Microsoft Office, if you do, there will be some differences between your version and what you see in the course.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

Other:

  • Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.

Instructional Material Requirements:

The instructional materials required for this course are included in enrollment. The following materials will be shipped to you approximately 7-10 business days after enrollment in the Administrative Dental Assistant portion of the program:

  • Student Workbook to Accompany the Administrative Dental Assistant

Additionally, this course will provide you with DENTRIX® software that consists of sample practice opportunities. You can use this software to engage in activities and tasks that you would perform in actual practice and demonstrate your skills.

Manuals are included as downloadable PDFs throughout the Microsoft portions of the course.

The following materials will be shipped to you approximately 7-10 business days after enrollment in the Professional Bookkeeping with QuickBooks Online portion of the program:

  • Bookkeeping for Dummies
  • QuickBooks Online software
    • Your enrollment in this course includes a free 1-year full subscription to QuickBooks Online. You will be shown how to access and activate this subscription. Manuals are included as downloadable PDFs throughout the course.

Dental Office Manager

Cindy Lamkin

Cindy Lamkin has been employed in the dental field for over 20 years. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in dental hygiene and holds Registered Dental Assistant and Registered Dental Hygienist credentials. In addition to practicing clinical hygiene, she has also worked in dental office administration and treatment coordination. Her career includes general dentistry, as well as specialty practices of periodontics, endodontics, pedodontics, and orthodontics.

Wade Lindenberger

Wade Lindenberger is a CPA with over 20 years of financial accounting and management experience in public accounting and the private industry. He is currently Director of Finance and Administration for New Children's Museum. Before his current position, he worked as the National Finance and Accounting Service Line Leader for Premier Alliance Group, a national professional services firm. Wade was also Director of the Finance and Accounting service line for the San Diego office of a global, publicly held professional services firm.

Before becoming a consultant, Wade was Divisional Controller for one of the world's leading health and fitness club chains and has been an Internal Audit Manager and Divisional Controller for a Fortune 500 global energy project management company. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand, a predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the "Big Four" CPA firms. He has previously served as an instructor at Coopers & Lybrand and the University of California at San Diego for the Extension Course. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Business. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Bookkeepers' Advisory Board.

Tracy Berry

Tracy Berry has been a senior graphic designer/programmer, instructor, and consultant since 1993 and has developed hundreds of logos, marketing materials, websites, and multimedia solutions for customers worldwide. She was also involved in several large corporate software rollouts. She has helped many organizations optimize and streamline data solutions and has her CTT (Certified Technical Trainer) certification. Tracy specializes in teaching both onsite and online graphics, desktop publishing, web design, and reporting/productivity applications courses.

Does this course prepare you for a certification?

Yes, you will be prepared for the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU) exam and the Microsoft Excel and Word Expert certification exam. For students using Microsoft Office 2019/2021, we recommend the MO-201/MO-101 exam and the MO-211/MO-111 exam for Microsoft Office 365 users.

When can I start the course?

This course is open enrollment, so you can register and start the course as soon as you are ready. Access to your course can take 24-48 business hours.

How long does it take to complete this course?

This course is self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start when you want and finish at your own pace. When you register, you'll receive eighteen (18) months to complete the course.

What if I don't have enough time to complete my course within the time frame provided?

The time allotted for course completion has been calculated based on the number of course hours. However, if you are unable to complete the course, contact the student advising team to see what options you may have available to work out a suitable completion date. Please note that an extension fee may be charged.

What kind of support will I receive?

Can I get financial assistance?

This course is non-credit, so it does not qualify for federal aid, FAFSA and Pell Grant. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses. Additionally, some students may qualify for financial assistance when they enroll, if they meet certain requirements. Financing is available from select schools.
