RISE: An Evidence-Based Stress Resilience Training for Leaders
As stress levels continue to surge to unprecedented levels across the country and around the globe, more people than ever are turning to somatic practices to fortify their overall resilience. RISE, an evidence-based stress resilience training program, was developed by Kripalu, a nonprofit organization and leader in yoga and mindfulness-based education for over 50 years. Through 15 years of partnership with the scientific research community, the RISE training program has been shared with over 100,000 people from over 150 organizations from leadership to frontline professionals in corporate, health and human services, education, and community safety and first responders.
Thriving organizations are made up of thriving people but the research clearly shows that many are barely surviving especially during these uncertain times. While a certain level of stress is part of living and leading a vibrant life, without the proven tools to skillfully navigate it, persistent high-stakes stress can lead to serious challenges for our overall wellbeing and performance.
The core skill and practice of RISE is staying centered which is the ability to monitor our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and manage them in a way that matches the situation and our intentions. Sounds simple enough in theory but, when in the midst of real-life high stakes stressful situations, it takes more than simply knowing what to do, it requires explicitly knowing how to do it and making it a daily habit.
