Bypass Resistance: Practical Uses of Imagination in Psychotherapy

Bypass Resistance: Practical Uses of Imagination in Psychotherapy
Sideways and Upside Down

As psychotherapists we often encounter clients “stuck” in a counter-tension between wanting to change and fearing change; or the “knowledge” of something in conflict with what rings true on an “emotional” level.

Supported by the default mode network in the brain, in conjunction with other networks like salience and executive, imagination integrates hemispheric views of reality, allows us to simulate our future actions and outcomes through the inherently embodied function of imagination.

Learn how to “speak” to client imaginations, how to sync for greater attunement, how using contextual lenses can shift how problems are envisioned and liberated for change.
