Sue Bickford is the GIS Specialist and Stewardship Coordinator for the Wells Reserve in Wells Maine. The Wells Reserve is one of 29 National Estuarine Research Reserve located around the coast and Great Lakes of the United States whose goal is to have health marsh ecosystems and thriving coastal communities. In 2015, Sue began helping the Reserve System to investigate how UAS technology could play a role in helping achieve those two national goals. "The Way Forward: Unmanned Aerial Systems for the National Estuarine Research Reserves" was a road map document produced to bring all 29 Reserves up to speed on what UAS technology was and how it could be applied to specific Reserve activities. This is an example of how an enterprise-sized organization began its quest to integrate UAS technology nation-wide. It also represents growing the use of UAS technology into multiple aspects of the Natural Resource market.
