Opportunities for Growth as a Dental Assistant

March 2, 2022

Entering the field of dentistry assisting presents a variety of opportunities for growth and success in the workplace. Dental assistants are guaranteed a position because the demand is rapidly growing alongside the ever-increasing population. The role is essential to any dentistry practice and assistants are highly valued. Our Dental Assistant program provides an approachable way to get into the industry, where you can receive workforce-ready training within six short weeks.

Employment Trends

Are you aware that over four thousand new dental assistant positions are created every year? According to a recent report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of dental assistants is anticipated to increase 11% by 2030, which is faster than the average for all other occupations.

While there are roughly 40 different job titles available for dental assistants, the BLS reports the median annual wage is $41,180. In comparison to other entry-level positions, this is an adequate salary to start with.

Dental Assistant Requirements

One of the more inviting aspects of entering the dental assistance field is how accessible it is. Typically, there are very few requirements to become a certified worker. To become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) in New Hampshire, individuals are required to have a Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) CDA certification. This title can be acquired in as little as two months through our hands-on Dental Assistant training program. Our program helps familiarize students with all areas of administrative and clinical dental assistance, focusing on the responsibilities required to function as an assistant in a dental practice.

While most states only mandate this postsecondary non-degree certification, there are a few states, and higher-paying positions, that require dental assistants to be legally able to operate dental x-ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures.

Dental Assistant Responsibilities

Anyone who has ever visited a dental office can recognize the significant role dental assistants provide. This position helps support the dentist with any clinical and administrative services that need to be addressed throughout the workday.

Our program uncovers some of the more important responsibilities, including maintaining the legal aspects of dentistry, understanding introductory concepts of oral anatomy and tooth structures, and being able to properly prepare, handle and sterilize dental materials. Other duties include administrative tasks such as recording inventory, collecting and recording patient information, and processing payments.

Becoming a Dental Assistant

With a career in dental assistance being easily accessible and the anticipated increase in employment opportunities, it would be extremely beneficial to start working towards a certified dental assistant title soon. Our program starts this spring at the beginning of April and concludes in June and is held at times that are convenient for professionals who are currently working. Enroll today and start working towards your career in dental assistance.
